KidSuccess: Providing early intervention for 30 years
Over the year, we’ve celebrated the 30th anniversary of our KidSuccess program with stories from school and JFS staff about our collaboration to reach youth to help them work through and heal from mental health struggles. KidSuccess School-based Therapist Sydney Ankenbrandt completed her third year at Samuels Elementary School, and she shares her thoughts on her role and experiences.

The JFS Arts and Community Exploration (ACE) program is a person-centered program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, engaging in center-based activities and community outings. Last January, we took it to the hoops with our inaugural ACE – Special Olympics basketball team.

Meet JFS Boulder’s new development and community engagement manager
Our efforts to strengthen our outreach throughout the Boulder community have expanded with the addition of Miche Bacher to the JFS Boulder team as development and community engagement manager. Miche will primarily focus on creating relationships with potential, current, and past donors and partners within the Jewish community.

The JFS KidSuccess program places trained JFS therapists in schools, providing youth with access to free, quality mental health counseling services so they can succeed academically and emotionally. Samuels Elementary School’s Music Teacher, Janie Darone, shares her experience with the program and its impact on their school.
In-home support for Boulder older adults
Some older adults want to live in their homes as long as possible, and that’s when in-home care is sometimes necessary to meet to make this a viable option. JFS provides responsible and compassionate homemakers to assist older adults with a variety of tasks to help them remain independent.

June is LGBTQ+ Pride Month and is dedicated to uniting our community, honoring diversity, and sparking awareness as we generate conversations around the issues our neighbors face and strengthen our community. At JFS, we believe it is everyone’s responsibility to make the world a better place regardless of a person’s circumstances, age, ethnicity, race, faith, income, ability, gender identity, and sexual orientation. Celebrate Pride and join us during the month’s festivities!
JFS adaptive cycling: enjoy the ride
Bicycle riding is a shared experience, and we’re excited to begin our second season of offering an adaptive bike program for Douglas, Arapahoe, and Elbert County residents in the intellectual/developmental disability community over the age of 18. The program helps break barriers to explore local recreation spots, get exercise, and discover new things on bicycles.
Supporting Older Adults in Arapahoe County: The Impact of Aid to Agencies Grant Funding
Thanks to the Aid to Agencies grant, JFS has been able to address critical, unmet needs for older adults in Arapahoe County, especially those living with chronic medical conditions who don’t qualify for other programs.

In partnership with Repair the World, Ohr HaOlam, Temple Emanuel, and Hebrew Educational Alliance, JFS Jewish Disabilities Advocates (JDA) was thrilled to bring to the community the second annual Disability Justice Passover Seder on April 18.
The JFS Executive Luncheon: Successes, Challenges, and Lively Conversations
On Tuesday, April 22, nearly 1,000 members of the Denver philanthropic community gathered to learn more about JFS, enjoy lunch, and celebrate the Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck Community Leadership Award presentation to our longstanding partners at the Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation. Guests then listened to a thought-provoking conversation between 9NEWS anchor Kyle Clark and Emmy Award-winning journalist Chuck Todd.
