Meet JFS Boulder’s new development and community engagement manager
Miche Bacher’s lived experiences are varied. Her list of accomplishments includes roles such as acupuncturist, birth and death doula, pastry chef, published author, trauma-informed therapist, not-for –profit founder and Board Member, past Board member of the Boulder JCC, entrepreneur, acupuncturist, and business owner. Now, she can add development and community engagement manager for our JFS Boulder team to her career path, and everyone at JFS is excited about her efforts to strengthen our outreach throughout the community.
Born in New York, Miche was raised in Massachusetts and lived in Connecticut, Virginia, and California before moving to Colorado. Her mother was deeply immersed in the Jewish community, and she shared her passion for serving with Miche. No matter where Miche has lived, her familiarity with JFS has carried with her. “My life is a quilt. I’m a mother, wife, sister, and Jew, but the common thread that weaves its way through everything I do and who I am is being a nurturer. It’s what ties my pieces together,” shared Miche. “
Miche’s friend Cathy Summers is a longtime supporter of JFS. (Cathy joined the JFS Boulder staff as a care manager in 2010 and went on to lead the Boulder office until 2018. She has continued to volunteer for the agency in different capacities.) Through Cathy, Miche knew about JFS and was tangentially involved, but it was 2025 Executive Luncheon co-chair and JFS Board Chair Carl Rossow, who reached out to Miche to join the 2025 Executive Luncheon committee and help generate interest for the event and JFS from her Boulder network. (Through Miche’s efforts, the number of Executive Luncheon Boulder guests was the highest ever, which naturally translates to more people being introduced to the agency or learning more about what we do!)
With a background in development, cultivating potential donors, raising funds for various projects, and engaging past donors, Miche will primarily focus on creating relationships with potential, current, and past donors and partners within and outside of the Jewish community in Boulder. “I’m excited to share JFS’s mission and values in the context of ‘look at what we can do to make our community the best it can be’,” said Miche. Like us, she believes in the importance of strengthening our community, the power of engagement, and, most importantly, showing up for those who need us most.
“Every piece of what I do is about leaving a legacy for my kids and beyond,” said Miche. “My community is my world, and it’s where I can make a difference. It’s easy to get behind JFS and its work because the mission-driven values speak to me.”
We look forward to working with Miche and having her share her extensive knowledge and relationships within the Boulder Jewish community, as well as the broader philanthropic community, to make the greatest impact for the greater good.
