Meet Our New Board Members!

Jewish Family Service of Colorado (JFS) installed new Board members, Jonathan “JJ” Asarch, Mac Mascovits, and Victor "Vic" Sulzer, at our Celebrate JFS event in June. Leanna Harris will now serve as Board Chair. Board members completing their service were Julian Izbiky and Carol Karshmer.

Leanna HarrisLeanna Harris, Board Chair, has worked in the field of education in a variety of capacities for more than 20 years. She currently works with Diane Sweeney Consulting, helping teachers and schools improve instruction and student achievement. Leanna has an MA in Education from the University of Colorado at Denver and an undergraduate degree in Theology from Georgetown University. She also has a Certificate in Sustainability Leadership and Implementation from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver.

JJ AsarchJonathan "JJ" Asarch is a business and health care attorney, advisor, and entrepreneur with prior experience both in-house and in private practice. He currently serves as executive vice president/general counsel at Colorado Pain Care. Asarch received his law degree from Northwestern University School of Law and his BA in history from Williams College. He became involved with JFS by serving on its Budget and Finance Committee.

 

Mac MascovitsMac Mascovitz has made a career working in the nonprofit sector. He was a major gift fundraiser with The Nature Conservancy (Colorado Field Office). After learning that his first son had Down syndrome, Mascovitz began volunteering for Special Olympics Colorado, which eventually led to a paid position as its director of development. In 2009 he became executive director of Rocky Mountain Down Syndrome Association. Mascovitz has a Bachelor of Science from Pfeiffer University in North Carolina and a Master of Education from Vanderbilt University: Peabody College.

Vic Sulzer

Victor "Vic" L. Sulzer is a partner in the law firm Tschetter Hamrick Sulzer. Sulzer is an honors graduate of Middlebury College where he majored in Economics and he received his law degree from the University of Denver. Sulzer participates in numerous professional, civic, charitable, and political activities. He currently serves a Board member of the Apartment Association of Southern Colorado. He is actively involved with the Rocky Mountain Down Syndrome Association and received the Minoru Yasui Community Volunteer Award for his work with that organization.
