Inclement Weather Closures
Our goal is to ensure the safety of our staff, clients and volunteers while giving as much advance notice of a change in schedule as possible so appropriate arrangements can be made. That means decisions are made based on the best information available. If weather conditions exist and have the potential to impact JFS operations, those conditions will be closely monitored and information gathered from multiple sources, taking safety and transportation into account. The decisions for unscheduled closure(s) may differ by JFS location.
PLEASE NOTE: Many of our staff work from home or a combination of at home and one of our sites (Tamarac, Boulder JCC, Valmont Road, JCC Denver, Calvary Baptist Church, JFS Altius Farms and Cardinal Health) or off-site with clients. When JFS facilities, partner sites, and other programs are closed (partial or full days) because of weather, we would appreciate that anyone who is able work from home (considering children may be home from school or daycare as well). When there are critical deadlines, staff may be asked to work from home to meet those deadlines.
The CEO and/or other designee(s) discuss in advance the plan for weather closures. Early closures/late starts are based on the weather and road conditions available. While school closures may be used as a guideline, information from weather reports, media, and input from managers will also be weighed.
On days with unpredicted heavy snowfall occurring overnight/early morning, the CEO and designee(s) will monitor news reports starting 4:30 - 5:00 a.m. Calls will be made to the department directors.
Disability Services will determine their open/close status based on the safety of their clients and transportation concerns, etc. in conjunction with the CEO.
The Boulder offices will determine their open/close status after conferring with the CEO, reviewing the JCC schedule and weather and road conditions in Boulder.
As soon as a decision is made, JFS closings or late starts (outside of regularly scheduled days off) will be communicated no later than 6:30 am through the following (some or all):
