Holiday Programs

Community Passover Program

Supported through the Sally Steele Metzger Passover Fund, JFS provides food needed for a complete Passover Seder to families in need in our community. Each Passover basket includes a kosher chicken and a full complement of kosher-for-Passover food items. The Community Passover Program is designed to help those families who would normally prepare a Seder for themselves, but currently don’t have the resources. From donated food, to financial contributions, to volunteers, community participation is essential for the success of this project.

Thanksgiving Boxes

The JFS Thanksgiving program, supported through the Dorinda Levy Thanksgiving Fund, provides eligible low-income families with all the ingredients for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Clients of the agency register for the program and receive a large box of Thanksgiving food including a turkey, potatoes, green beans, cranberry sauce, stuffing, gravy, pumpkin pie supplies, milk, and eggs. Volunteers pack the boxes of bounty and distribute to clients on the day before Thanksgiving each year.

Bright Holidays Gifts

Eligible families, older adults, and individuals are “adopted” by community volunteers and donors (schools, religious organizations, corporations, and individuals) who supply personal and individualized gifts for Hanukkah or Christmas from client wish lists. Donors can also purchase toys, gift cards, and more to support this program.

Donation Information

Donations of nonperishable food items are needed for families and individuals facing hunger. Your continued support will help keep our shelves stocked with food for those in need.
