Start a Conversation About Inclusive Workplaces

Creating a culture where everyone feels valued, heard, respected, appreciated, comfortable, and welcomed is critical to building an inclusive workplace. Like most things, it starts with education, and our JFS employment specialists are ready to create opportunities for a conversation over lunch.

Did you know that 26 percent of adults in the United States have a disability, which equates to 61 million adults in this country? Maybe you haven’t thought about it, but creating an inclusive workplace is beneficial not only for employees but also for organizations. Doing so:

  •  Increases employee engagement and productivity.

  • Enhances creativity.

  • Encourages collaboration.

  • Attracts better employee talent.

  • Improves employee satisfaction.

  • Boosts your company’s reputation internally and externally.

Our JFS employment specialists are excited to start a conversation—or even refresh your knowledge—and share The Disability Language & Ethics presentation. The session will provide food for thought and concrete guidance around language as it overlaps with disability from the standpoint of an ally to the disability community. Topics addressed will include:

  •  Reviewing different words and answering the question, “Is it okay to say this?”

  • Person first versus identity first

  • Wording and tone

  • Infantilization

  • Disability subgroup considerations

  • Next best steps to create a more inclusive workplace

The Lunch and Learn fee includes an in-person, hour-long Disability Language & Ethics presentation virtually or in your Denver-area office, time for Q&A, resources to learn more, and the invaluable experience to start the conversation about how to create a more inclusive workplace.

Schedule a Lunch and Learn session with one of our employment specialists and learn about disability allyship, language, and ethics to help build a supportive and inclusive workplace culture today! Contact Riley Dettman to learn more.

“JFS’s workshop on representing disability in marketing was incredibly impactful for our nonprofit branding team. JFS's expertise helped our team to move past a one-size-fits-most method for representation and educated us on the nuance necessary to truly do this community a justice. Our team now is empowered to not only serve nonprofits within the disability community but has motivated us to infuse all of our work with a higher level of inclusivity and representation.”—Melissa Broderick, Lasso Digital
