Doing good in our community

You could plan a party by yourself but think how much better it would be if you had a little help. That’s how you should think of our service project toolkits! Whether you’re looking for a way to commemorate a special occasion by giving back to your community or simply wanting to help those in need, you can choose from three service projects JFS provides or speak with our team to share your passion and work together to create a new one project.

We’ve put together resources to make your experience helping our community the best it can be. Looking for ideas? We’ve got you covered. How about a social media graphic? Yup, we’ve got that, too. We even have flyers to share information with your family, friends, and network. We’ve gathered everything you need to make coordinating a service project as easy as possible, including the ability to create a personalized donation page. We’ll track the donations in support of your project and provide all the information you need to thank those who contributed!

Visit our Toolkit page to learn more about the following service projects:

Fill the JFS Weinberg Food Pantry. Hold a food drive in your school, church/synagogue, or neighborhood. We’ll provide reusable tote bags or JFS collection barrels for participants to fill with nonperishable food items, and we provide a list of the most needed items.

Gather supplies and make a house a home for newly housed families. Host a supply drive to collect household items needed to fill new home baskets for individuals and families in our Yana Vishnitsky Refugee Resettlement program or for formerly unhoused people. Select the type of basket you want to create and then invite your friends and family to donate new items listed on the flyer.

Help isolated adults feel supported and engaged. Create Care Kits for isolated older adults that could contain items like slippers, socks, therapy putty, snacks, crossword puzzles, sudoku books, and puzzles. Add a personal touch by including a greeting card or homemade cookies!

Do you feel like creating a different service project or learning other ways to make a difference but need suggestions? Our Toolkit page is full of ideas to help individuals and families who struggle to make ends meet, from collecting diapers and wipes to adopting a family during the holidays through our Bright Holidays program to supporting mental health and wellness or adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. If none of these suggestions hits the mark, you can contact our Jewish Community Liaison, Lisa Soicher, with questions or to customize a project.

Thank you for helping JFS make the greatest impact for the greater good!
