Rental Assistance Information

JFS offers limited rental assistance to help prevent eviction and support housing stability for families and individuals in crisis. Because funding is very limited, not all eligible applicants will receive assistance.

How It Works

  • Applications Open Monthly: When funding allows, an online application is made available on the JFS website for a short time each month. The opening dates will be posted on our website prior to the application opening.

  • Community Access: A portion of funds is reserved for community members who are not already working with JFS.

  • In-Person Support: The Central Intake and Resource Navigation (CIRN) team can help applicants complete the form in English or Spanish.

Eligibility and Selection

  • Once the application window closes, applications are reviewed for basic eligibility, including income, housing status, and location.

  • If more eligible applications are received than the program can serve, a random selection process is used.

  • Priority may be given to households with urgent housing needs, children, or significant barriers such as disability or limited English.

Key Program Details

  • Most households can only receive assistance once every 12 months.

  • Exceptions may be made for households experiencing a crisis (e.g., domestic violence, sudden job loss, medical emergency).

  • A small number of referrals are reserved each month for existing JFS clients.

Important Reminders

  • Due to limited resources, many eligible households will not be selected for assistance.

  • Applicants will be notified of the outcome after the review process, but JFS may be unable to offer alternative resources or funding options if not selected.

This program is designed to offer short-term help to a small number of households each month. We appreciate your partnership in helping share accurate information with the community.
