Promote inclusion and address the needs of Jewish people with disabilities and their families.

Haverim and Best Buddies

Haverim is a group of adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) that connect with each other and with the Jewish community. The programming provides opportunities for full participation in Jewish life by attending and participating in-person and/or virtually in holiday celebrations and community events at synagogues and with Jewish organizations.

Best Buddies International is a program with chapters all over the world.  Jewish Family Service Best Buddies Citizens chapter matches adults with and without IDD in one-to-one friendships that develop and are sustained over many years. The JFS chapter is unique in that Jewish adults are matched with each other with the goal of creating deeper friendships and connections to the Colorado Jewish community and each other.  To join the JFS chapter as a buddy (a person with IDD) or a peer buddy (a person without IDD), please register with Best Buddies. In addition, all peer buddies must also sign up to be a JFS volunteer.
