Food Pantry and Warehouse Assistant—Part Time

Jewish Family Service is hiring a part-time (10 hours/week) Food Pantry and Warehouse Assistant to assist in the operations of the Weinberg Food Pantry on Mondays and Tuesdays from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The individual will assist the Pantry Operations Coordinator on the truck route to pick up food donations from retail stores and in handling the donations in the warehouse and pantry for distribution to low-income households.

  1. Education: High School diploma or equivalent credentials.
  2. Experience: Two years of work experience.
  3. Qualifications: Minimum 21 years of age. Valid Colorado Driver’s License. Clean motor vehicle driving record. Able to work Mondays and Tuesdays from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Enjoy working with a non-profit social service agency serving people in need.
  4. Physical Requirements: Lift, push, pull, and carry cases ranging from 5 to 50 pounds in weight for a sustained time of up to 2 hours while stooping, twisting, lifting overhead, and bending repeatedly. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Ability to ascend in and out of the truck repeatedly. Ability to withstand constant changes in temperatures during seasonal weather changes.
  5. Skills: Ability to work independently with some guidance and direction. Team player, able to interact and communicate clearly.


Work under the supervision of the Pantry Supply Coordinator to assist with the following: 

  1. Accompany the Coordinator on the morning truck route to pick up food donations from the retailers (such as Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, and Sprouts).
  2. Help load the donations onto the truck.
  3. Weigh the product by category and store for reporting purposes.
  4. Unload, sort, and stock food received from the retailers.
  5. Assist volunteers with setting up the pantry, including putting food in the appropriate distribution areas.
  6. Move received goods to appropriate storage areas using equipment such as pallet jacks and a stacker.
  7. Help ensure that the warehouse storage area complies with safety regulations.
  8. Drive the truck to make pick-ups occasionally when needed.
  9. Maintain a clean and orderly warehouse area.
  10. Handle movement of pallets and cases on and off the truck and around the warehouse.
  11. Ensure proper stacking of cases on pallets to ensure safety of others.
  12. Accept donations from the community, maintaining appropriate in-kind donation forms.
  13. Practice proper food safety and inventory control.
