Do You Have Your Mother's Day Shopping Done?

Friday, May 02, 2014

, a division of Jewish Family Service, is inaugurating a working partnership with Tagawa Gardens for its SHALOM Peace Planter program. The Peace Planters are lovingly planted by people with disabilities who work, learn, and earn at SHALOM Denver. Now through Mother's Day, Tagawa is selling Peace Planters at its southeast Centennial garden and retail center, located at 7711 South Parker Road.

Next weekend, May 10 and 11, Tagawa is hosting a big Mother's Day open house celebration. It's the perfect time to celebrate your mom, wife, or other loved one and buy a Peace Planter (or several)! Tagawa has also commissioned SHALOM Denver to make Peace Planters for five major holidays including Valentines Day, Easter/Passover, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas/Hanukkah.

This project stemmed from Tagawa seeing a 9NEWS story about the program.

Also, this past week at the JFS Executive Luncheon, the Peace Planters were used as beautiful, meaningful centerpieces on the 81 tables in the Seawell Grand Ballroom.

If you are interested in purchasing these planters for your next event of any size, contact Will Garth at 303.623.0251, wgarth@jewishfamiyservice.org.

JFS Executive Luncheon was a Huge Success!

Friday, May 03, 2013

The ninth annual JFS executive luncheon was a huge success! Thanks to the generous donations of the more than 800 businesses and professionals that attended the event, we were able to raise more than $405,000 for our programs which include, mental health counseling, senior and adult in-home care, disability and employment services, and family safety net services. The audience was moved by the story of Patricia Green, a SHALOM Denver employment Services client. With the help of SHALOM Denver, Patricia was able to move from welfare to self-sufficiency, giving her back her dignity and her confidence. For the first time in her life, she feels like she has a real future.
