JFS Sends 300 Kids Back to School with Tools to Succeed

Once again we are so grateful for how our community came together this summer to donate money, backpacks, and school supplies. Because of your generosity, we distributed 300 backpacks filled with school supplies to low-income children throughout the Denver metro area this week, a substantial increase over last year! Because of increased donations, we were able to give backpacks out at all of the Lunchbox Express routes.

“Yana! A Farewell Celebration” Raises Record $1.2 Million

Yana's Family on Red CarpetNearly 600 guests, dressed to the nines, walked the red carpet at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center to pay tribute to retiring JFS president and CEO Yana Vishnitsky. Attendees mingled while enjoying cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and upbeat entertainment by the glamorous Spinphony string quartet. “Cossack” dancers led everyone into the Centennial Ballroom for an elegant family-style seated dinner.

On any given day, people from about 50 households visit the JFS Weinberg Food Pantry (on the three days per week the pantry is open). However, last Tuesday and Wednesday when we distributed our annual Thanksgiving meal packages, we served nearly triple that number!
