September Volunteer of the Month

Adaptable bike

We are excited to introduce Blair R., our September Volunteer of the Month. Blair volunteers with the Adaptive Bike program, and her enthusiasm, warmth, and dedication have left a lasting impression on both participants and staff. She creates a fun, welcoming environment where everyone feels supported and seen. We’re so grateful for the joy and energy she brings to the program and our community.

Staff member Caitlin shared:

“Blair is an absolutely amazing volunteer who has gone above and beyond to make participants comfortable around the bikes. She always brings a positive energy, great music, and a helping hand. She genuinely cares about participants and wants to get to know them on a deeper level. She is a true gem!”

Q: Tell us about yourself and your background.

BR: Originally from VA but living in Colorado for over 10 years now. I'm a graphic designer by profession. Have a sweet black lab mix. I love music, travel, reading, puzzles, and animals.

Q: What volunteer role do you have with JFS, and what roles have you had with JFS?

BR: This is my first time volunteering.

Q: What motivated you to begin volunteering with JFS?

BR: This was my first summer volunteering with JFS. I was looking to support my friends in the JFS community and also hoping to spend my free time serving others instead of self-indulging.

Q: What's your favorite part about volunteering with JFS, and how has being a JFS volunteer impacted your life?

BR: I loved getting to know our bikers on a personal level and see how much fun these adaptive bikes bring to their lives, even if just for a few hours. It was also such a pleasure getting to work with Caitlin! She brings such a fun energy to the program and the bikers absolutely adore her.

Q: Do you have a memorable story about your JFS volunteer experience to share?

BR: The best memories for me are out on the trails with our community of bikers. Seeing the sheer enjoyment and freedom they experience exploring nature on the bikes is incredibly fulfilling. And of course, we always make sure to fit in an impromptu dance party back at home base.

Q: What would you say to someone considering volunteering with JFS?

BR: If you have the time and are looking to fill your cup and meet the sweetest people, you absolutely should volunteer with JFS. A little goes a long way!
