A 2025 Jewish Federations of North American (JFNA) study showed:
29% of Jews cannot or are just managing to make ends meet.
10% of Jews receive government benefits (e.g., food assistance, subsidized housing or utilities, Medicaid, SSI).
7% of Jews struggle to pay bills.
6% of Jews could not afford an unexpected expense of $1,000.
Jewish economic vulnerability is rarely discussed and is pervasive in our communities—from individuals who cannot pay for an unexpected car repair to families who are unable to afford their monthly rent or mortgage payment. Sometimes, these economic burdens cause Jews to lose their connection to the Jewish community, whether it’s by not being able to attend synagogue or participate in traditions that connect us to our faith and family, creating a sense of belonging and stability.
Join Jewish Family Service (JFS) and practice G’milut Hasadim, acts of loving kindness, during the Jewish Days of Giving! This is your opportunity to help JFS and transform lives by providing support for our Jewish programs and services, including:
Providing Holocaust survivors with the resources and support they need to live in peace and comfort.
Delivering Kosher meals to older adults in the Denver metro area through Kosher Meals on Wheels and serving older adults hot kosher-style lunches at the JFS Community Table Lunch program.
Offering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to connect with each other and the Jewish community and improve inclusion and belonging through synagogues and Jewish agencies.
Placing trained JFS therapists in 20 metro Denver Public Schools and the Denver Academy of Torah to provide children and adolescents with access to quality counseling services.
Providing direct spiritual care and guidance to unaffiliated Jews who are ill, in crisis, or near the end of their lives through the Baskin Jewish Community Chaplaincy program.
Assisting individuals and families facing hunger and food insecurity at the Weinberg Food Pantry and Mobile Food & Hygiene Pantry.
