Thank You to Corporate Days of Service Volunteers

Denver Community Credit Union volunteers at JFS

A big thank-you to groups from Xcel Energy and Denver Community Credit Union who recently volunteered at JFS as part of their corporate Days of Service!

Xcel Energy held its 11th annual Day of Service September 9-11, helping more than 40 nonprofits across the state. Day of Service is a way for Xcel Energy and all Coloradoans to focus their energy on helping the community as a tribute to the 9/11 victims, survivors, first responders, and all those who work to keep our country safe. We are honored that a group of 25 Xcel Energy employees, family members, and community members volunteered in the Weinberg Food Pantry on September 10.

Tessa Wilson, Xcel Energy communications consultant, says, “It was an honor to spend the day with Jewish Family Service. Not only was I impressed by the organization and generosity that goes into the food pantry, but I was also moved by the amount of people this service touches. Day of Service is a special event for our company and spending the day at the food pantry with Jewish Family Service definitely made an impact on our volunteers. Thank you to JFS for what you continue to do for our community.”

Denver Community Credit Union brought nine employees to set up and stock the food pantry during their annual Day of Service on October 11. Each year, when their bank branches are closed for a federal holiday, their team members give their time to local nonprofits.

Sarae Kurth Bay, Denver Community Credit Union’s outreach program director, says, “Our Denver Community Credit Union team had an amazing time volunteering at Jewish Family Service’s Weinberg Food Pantry. We chose to support JFS because of the incredible work they do tackling food insecurity and our aligned values around strengthening our community. Some of our employees live in the area and were in awe seeing the scale of JFS’s operations and the increased community need for food over the course of the pandemic.”

Joe Tassano, Denver Community Credit Union’s SVP of operations, shares his experience from the day: “Volunteering at JFS was a truly heartwarming experience. The services JFS offers the community are in such great need. The staff are amazing; they care so much about the work they do and helping their local community members. I feel privileged that I was able to work with such great people that complete such caring work every day.”

Thank you to these groups for all their hard work, dedication, and care for their local community!
