A profile in giving: Lori and Lou Sigman

It’s easy to be passionate about JFS when you believe in its mission to improve the lives of individuals and families throughout Colorado. But before that can happen, you need to learn about the important work JFS does throughout the community, which is one of the reasons why hosting events is essential for introducing new people to the agency. It’s how Lori and Lou Sigman became involved with JFS and began their legacy with the organization.  

After Lori and Lou attended an event more than 25 years ago, the couple began making yearly financial donations, and in 2023 Lori began volunteering in the Weinberg Food Pantry.   

“The Weinberg Food Pantry is so visible within the community,” shared Lori. “It is easy to see the immediate impact and how it helps people. Since JFS is nondenominational and helps more than the Jewish community, it has a broad reach and truly is a benefit to all people.”  

Investing in JFS to protect the agency’s programs and services for future generations is more than a gift; it strengthens your legacy and speaks to your values. “As we get older, we want to support multiple agencies, and JFS is one of them,” said Lou. “JFS is a good cause to get behind because of all the ways they help the community. It is obvious that JFS is a hands-on organization that benefits the community. The agency offers the perfect opportunity to donate time, treasures, and talent.”   

Our Legacy Society donors, like Lori and Lou, are the driving force behind keeping our doors open for those who rely on us most. Thanks to the vision and commitment of those who came before us, JFS has evolved to meet our community’s needs for more than 154 years. Without their support and generosity, JFS would not be the vital resource it is today.
