Thank You for Making the Holidays Bright for Nearly 700 People!

Thank You for Making the Holidays Bright for Nearly 700 People!

Last month, many generous individuals, organizations, and corporations collected holiday gifts for JFS clients through our Bright Holidays program. We restructured the program this year to adjust to changing client needs. The ways people could provide gifts this year were:

Adopt-a-Family: This was our traditional program, in which JFS staff members from all program areas referred their clients needing holiday assistance to the Family Safety Net Department. Donors then purchased hand-selected gifts from their wish lists for 205 individuals from 72 households.

Secret Shopper giftsSecret Shopper Program: This was a new component of the Bright Holidays program, which enabled JFS to help more people. Clients registered for the program and requested gifts for their children from a list we provided. Donors went online through Sign Up Genius to choose types of gifts to purchase for individuals, shopped for those gifts, and brought them to JFS. We distributed gifts to 190 kids from 75 households through this program.

Holiday Helper giftsHoliday Helper Program: Donors purchased any toys they wanted and dropped them off at JFS. We turned our Board Room into a toy store and pantry client families got to choose gifts right before the holidays when they came to pick up their food packages. Families were even able to select clothing and household items thanks to the King Soopers Reclamation Center. 192 children from 49 households selected gifts on two different days.

Adnrea StillmanMany community members also generously donated money or gift cards to the program. A big thank-you to Lockheed Martin for providing gifts for more than 50 people and to Temple Emanuel Sisterhood for adopting families and organizing a large toy collection from the congregation's religious school.Thank you to Andrea Stillman and Toni Getz, who donated many hours to help us organize the gifts and to the volunteers who helped distribute gifts. Thank you to the Family Safety Net staff for taking on new facets of this program to make it even better this year!

In total, 643 individuals from 210 households received gifts this year! We couldn't have done it without the outpouring of community support. Thank you for making the holidays bright for families in need!
