Nursing Home Outreach and Visitation

Nursing Home Outreach is a counseling and advocacy service for Jewish people residing in nursing care facilities. This service reduces social isolation of nursing care facility residents through visitation services of Jewish Family Service para-chaplains and volunteers.

The program strengthens the connection between the Jewish nursing care facility resident and the Jewish community by arranging religious services, in conjunction with the Jewish community chaplain, for the Sabbath, Passover, High Holy Days, and Hanukkah. In addition, educational in-services are offered to nursing care facility staff to sensitize them about the values, traditions, and holidays of Jewish residents.

We also provide assistance selecting a nursing care facility to meet the unique care needs of your loved ones and offer support to those who have a relative living in a long-term care facility.
