HEA Disability Awareness Weekend

HEA Disability Awareness Weekend

Date: 25-Feb-2017

In celebration of Jewish Disabilities Awareness and Inclusion Month, Jewish Disabilities Advocates (JDA) and its supporting agencies are offering several activities and events that highlight disability awareness and inclusion throughout our community. On February 25-26, 9:00 a.m. – 12 noon, HEA (Hebrew Educational Alliance) will host a Disability Awareness Weekend featuring topically-related sermons on Shabbat and a special presentation followed by experiential workshops for Hebrew School students, families, and the congregation.

  • The Saturday, February 25 session will include disability and inclusion-related sermons delivered by Rabbi Gruenwald and Rabbi Dollin.
  • The Sunday, February 26 session will focus on the religious school. There will be a teen speaker with autism who will describe what it is like to have a disability. That session will be followed by a series of participatory workshops, which will take place in the religious school classrooms and focus on different disabilities and how people manage them.
Location: HEA, 3600 South Ivanhoe Street, Denver
